The United Enterprise Fund seeks to finance acquisitions in growing markets with significant development opportunities. The Fund has targeted national and large chain brand franchise restaurants in and around the nation’s urban communities. It will also invest in franchisors seeking to expand their franchise bases because of the opportunities this provides minority operators in urban and low-to-middle income markets.
Investment proposals are evaluated, in part, on the basis of the following characteristics:
The existence of a quality management team with proven operating experience;
The existence of multi-unit operating experience;
Growth opportunities in under-served markets;
The financial strength of the franchisor;
The willingness of management to provide profit-based incentives to restaurant employees;
Opportunities to invest with minority operators in urban and LMI markets;
Opportunities to generate significant risk-adjusted returns; and,
Tangible opportunities for UEF to influence sound corporate governance.
